You see, barbecued food is cooked longer than typical grilled meats. This brings us to the second difference between these two devices - Length of cooking time. You can grill a steak in 12 minutes usually. Chicken might take 40 minutes or so, but it can still be done on a standard grill. If you want proper BBQ pulled pork, for example though, you're going to have to put some serious time in. The barbecuing process can take up to 8 hours sometimes, depending on the size of the cut. So why doesn't the meat burn?
To start off, we will work on some sandwiches. Just recently we covered the almighty "cheese steak" sandwich. For the game, you could make the cheese steak in advance and you could use mini sub rolls... stuff the rolls with the cheese steak and then wrap each one individually in foil and place in a 1/2 pan and place in a 250 degree oven. Your friends could just grab one whenever they are in the mood! Next, you could pig out (L.O.L) on my B.B.Q. slow cooker bbq pulled pork pork... again, this is great because you serve it out of the crock pot. This time you can get some of those little Hawaiian rolls or some potato rolls and make "Pulled pork sliders".
45 Tchoup is a low-key neighborhood bar, with friendly bartenders, a great jukebox, and free wi-fi. It looks a bit divey on the outside, but, some of the best spots in New Orleans all have that in common. Once indoors you'll be pleasantly surprised. Drinks are relatively inexpensive and there are multiple televisions for your sports viewing pleasure. If there's a Saints or Red Sox game, rest-assured, it will be on one of the big screens. No food is served, so dine before you drink or prepare for dinner in a bottle.
Perhaps White Castle learned a lesson from the insanity that's bound to occur when you offer something free to all of America with a very limited time to get it. New this year are the Lantern Light Wagon Rides being held on Saturday night (October 29) that give visitors a chance to ride down an abandoned country road by lantern light while hearing the tales and adventures of historical characters and ghosts (!) that you will meet along your journey. You will travel the tracks of the "Old Sheepskin" railroad line, along Todd's Creek and past ruins of buildings from by-gone days. After the wagon ride, passengers will gather around a campfire.
