For a snack choose a carrot or some nuts over a baked muffin. Instead of processed meats such as sausage and salami go for the more natural form. Try a good steak or some homemade swedish meatballs.
I added 3 times as much water to the beans just to be safe, (poured off the extra when done and measured it, could have only used twice as much rather than three times as much and it would have been the correct quantity). From dry beans to properly cooked in approximately 30 minutes. My next attempt was a pork sirloin and it was slow cooker meatballs great also about as tender as you can most likely get a pork sirloin. My third attempt was some chicken fajitas.
While wonderful for that snack, it makes a great entree as well. Slaw, potato salad, lettuce salad and chips, all make great sides to this wonderful treat.
Generally, crock pots are available in oval swedish meatballs brown sauce round shapes. For easy cleaning, get a pot with detachable inner ceramic container, which is safe to wash in a dishwasher.
